Abstract

The invention relates to compositions for the coating of substrates of matt surface appearance, based on thermoplastic and/or heat-curable resins such as PA, PP, polyesters and epoxy resins and containing one or a number of matting agents which are predominantly in the form of terephthalic acid dianilide or its substituted derivatives needles or flakes of average length of between 1 and 200 .mu.m and of aspect ratio of between 10 and 40. These compositions, generally in the form of powders, are employed for coating various substrates. The coatings are applied especially by dipping in a fluidized bed or by electrostatic spraying. The coated articles may be components of furnishing, of decoration or of construction.
