Abstract
The invention relates to a rolled or extruded AlMgMn aluminum alloy product for welded mechanical construction with the composition (% by weight): 3.0<Mg<65, 0.2<Mn<1.0, Fe<0.8, 0.05<Si<0.6, Zn<1.3, possibly Cr<0.15 and/or one or more of the elements Cu, Ti, Ag, Zr, V at a content of<0.30 each, other elements and inevitable impurities <0.05 each and <0.15 in total, in which the number of Mg.sub.2 Si particles between 0.5 .mu.m and 5 .mu.m, in size is between 150 and 2,000 per mm.sup.2, and preferably between 300 and 1,500 per mm.sup.2. The products according to the invention have good corrosion resistance and are used for structural applications such as for example, boats, offshore structures or industrial vehicles.
