Abstract

This invention relates to a polyester composition comprising: PA1 (A) 95 to 99.90% by weight of a polyester comprising from about 85 to 100 mole % of 2,6-naphthalenedicarboxylic acid and 85 to 100 mole % of at least one aliphatic glycol having from 2 to 16 carbon atoms, based on the total mole percentage for the glycol portion and for the acid portion of said polyester each equalling 100 mole %, and PA1 (B) 0.1 to 5.0% by weight of one or more polymeric carbodiimides. These polyester compositions result in improved hydrolytic stability in end products such as fiber, monofilament, films, thermoformed articles, containers and sheeting based on naphthalenedicarboxylic acid and ethylene glycol.
