Abstract

Clathrates of bis6-hydroxy-4-methyl-5-(3-methyl-imidazolium-1-yl)-3-(phen-4-ylazo)pyrid in-2-one!ethylene with aromatics of the general formula I ##STR1## where R.sup.1 is C.sub.1 -C.sub.5 -alkyl, C.sub.1 -C.sub.5 -hydroxyalkyl, C.sub.1 -C.sub.5 -alkoxy, C.sub.1 -C.sub.5 -hydroxyalkoxy, C.sub.1 -C.sub.10 -alkyl which is interrupted by 1, 2 or 3 non-neighboring oxygen atoms and is unsubstituted or substituted by hydroxyl, C.sub.1 -C.sub.10 -alkoxy which is interrupted by 1, 2 or 3 non-neighboring oxygen atoms and is unsubstituted or substituted by hydroxyl, or is C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 -alkanoyl, hydroxy, carboxyl, C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 -alkoxycarbonyl, phenylcarbonyl or C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 -alkenyl and PA1 R.sup.2 is R.sup.1, hydrogen or phenoxy, a process for their preparation and their use for the preparation of formulations of the dye.
