Abstract
Disclosed are compounds of the formula I wherein: PA1 Y represents --CO.sub.2 H, --CO.sub.2 R.sup.6, --C(O)NHR.sup.7, --SO.sub.2 H, --SO.sub.3 H, --SO.sub.3 R.sup.6, --SO.sub.2 NHR.sup.7, --C(O)--N(OH)--R.sup.8, or a group of the formula ##STR1## or a pharmaceutically acceptable addition salt or solvate thereof. Also disclosed are pharmaceutical compositions containing compounds of Formula I. Further disclosed is a method for treating or preventing respiratory depression, epileptic seizures or other central nervous system disorders, and for enhancing cognitive performance, by administering an effective amount of a compound of Formula I.
