Abstract
A mixing system and a method of mixing a relatively low specific gravity substance and a relatively high specific gravity substance are provided. The system includes a tank for containing a mixture, and an adjustable tube having an intake, wherein the adjustable tube is located within the tank and is adjustable for positioning the intake proximate an upper surface of the mixture for drawing in matter having a tendency to float on the surface of the mixture. The system also includes a circulating means for drawing matter out through the adjustable tube and back into the tank via a dispersion tube. The dispersion tube is constructed to allow the mixture to be recirculated throughout the tank or directed to a selected lower portion of the tank. The method includes the steps of containing a relatively low specific gravity substance and a relatively high specific gravity substance within a tank, positioning an intake of an adjustable tube proximate an tipper surface of the substances, skimming the relatively low specific gravity substance from the upper surface of the substances with the intake of the adjustable tube, and recirculating the relatively low specific gravity substance throu…
