Disclosed are detergent compositions comprising: PA1 (a) an .alpha.-sulfonated alkyl ester of a fatty acid having an average of about 12-14 carbon atoms; PA1 (b) an anionic surfactant; and PA1 (c) a nonionic surfactant, and methods for preparing such compositions.
