Abstract

The invention provides a photographic element comprising a silver halide emulsion layer having associated therewith a dye-forming coupler represented by formula II: ##STR1## wherein X is hydrogen or a coupling-off group; PA1 R.sup.1, R.sup.2, and R.sup.3 are independently selected alkyl groups, provided that any two of R.sup.1, R.sup.2 and R.sup.3 may join to form a ring; PA1 R.sup.4 is hydrogen or a substituent, provided that R.sup.3 and R.sup.4 may join to form a ring when R.sup.4 is a substituent; PA1 R.sup.a is hydrogen or a substituent; PA1 each Y is an independently selected substituent with at least one Y substituent in the 2-position (relative to oxygen) having the formula --NHSO.sub.2 R.sup.f, wherein R.sup.f is an alkyl or aryl group, and n is from 1 to 5. The element exhibits improved magenta dye light stability.
