Abstract
A laser ablative recording element comprising a support having thereon a recording layer comprising a pigment dispersed in a polymeric binder, the polymeric binder having an infrared-absorbing material dissolved therein, and wherein the polymeric binder is obtained from an aqueous latex dispersion of a polycyanoacrylate copolymer having the formula: ##STR1## wherein: R is a substituted or unsubstituted alkyl group having from 1 to about 20 carbon atoms; PA1 VA is a repeating unit resulting from the polymerization of a vinyl-containing monomer with a pendant ionizable group; and the weight ratios of x:y range from about 97:3 to about 70:30.
