Abstract
An organic EL device which is excellent in stability in the repetitive operation and has a high light emission brightness can be obtained from a gallium complex of the general formula (1), ##STR1## wherein each of Q.sup.1 and Q.sup.2 is independently a ligand of the general formula (2); and L is a halogen atom, a substituted or unsubstituted alkyl group, a substituted or unsubstituted cycloalkyl group, a substituted or unsubstituted aryl group, a substituted or unsubstituted heterocyclic ring group, --OR.sup.1 in which R.sup.1 is a hydrogen atom, a substituted or unsubstituted alkyl group, a substituted or unsubstituted cycloalkyl group, a substituted or unsubstituted aryl group or a substituted or unsubstituted heterocyclic ring group, or --O--Ga--Q.sup.3 (Q.sup.4) in which Q.sup.3 and Q.sup.4 have the same meanings as those of Q.sup.1 and Q.sup.2, ##STR2## wherein A.sup.1 and A.sup.2 are substituted or unsubstituted six-membered aryl rings which are mutually fused to form a fused ring moiety.
