Abstract
A magnetic slider assembly includes a spring arm; a magnetic slider including a plurality of welding studs, each of the welding studs including a base which is integral with the slider, the base having a controlled height and being made from a first layer of material which is not meltable at a welding temperature. Each of the welding studs further include a meltable stud member placed on the base, the meltable stud member including the second layer of material positioned on the first layer of material and having a melting point lower than that of the first layer of material and which is meltable at the welding temperature such that after welding, the meltable stud member forms a weld and a minimum parallel spacing between the slider and the spring arm which is substantially equal to the controlled height of the base. The second layer may be formed of either an electrolytically grown material or an etched material that is located on the first layer. A plurality of supplementary meltable stud members made from the second material are mounted on a lower surface portion of the spring arm so as to be directly opposite to and face the meltable stud members located on the respective bases…
