Abstract

4-Benzoylisothiazoles of the general formula 1 ##STR1## where the substituents have the following meanings: X is oxygen or sulfur; PA1 R.sup.3 is a radical of the general formula 2 ##STR2## where Z and the substituents R.sup.1, R.sup.2, R.sup.4, R.sup.5, R.sup.6 and R.sup.7 have the meanings given in claim 1, salts of the 4-benzoylisothiazoles of the general formula 1 which are conventionally used in agriculture, their preparation, and their use as herbicides.
