Abstract
A high performance solar control glass comprises a glass substrate with a coating comprising a heat absorbing layer and a low emissivity layer of a metal oxide. Preferred heat absorbing layers absorb preferentially at wavelengths above 700 nm, and may be, for example, of non-stoichiometric or doped tungsten oxide, or of cobalt oxide, chromium oxide, iron oxide or vanadiam oxide. Preferred low emissivity layers are of semi-conductor metal oxide, for example doped tin oxide or doped indium oxide. Because of the nature of the layers, the coatings may be of neutral color and be suitable for deposition on-line on the glass ribbon, during the glass production process, by pyrolytic methods for example chemical vapor deposition.
