Abstract
A photographic element is disclosed comprising: PA1 a) a first light sensitive silver halide emulsion layer containing a compound of Formula I: EQU COUP.sub.1 --(L).sub.n --A I PA1 wherein PA2 1) COUP.sub.1 is a coupler parent group capable of forming a dye upon reaction with oxidized developer wherein --(L).sub.n --A is not attached to the coupling position; PA2 2) L is a divalent linking group bonding A to COUP.sub.1, and n is 0 or 1; and PA2 3) A is a fragment containing a group is identified by formulas IIIa. IIIb or IIIc: ##STR1## wherein: Het represents a heteroatom; Q represents the atoms necessary to form a five or six-membered ring; V represents an atom of oxygen, sulfur, or nitrogen; and U represents an ether, thoiether or amino group; provided that the indicated formulas encompass the addition of one or more fused rings; and provided that the ClogP for the compound of Formula I is not greater than 20; and PA1 b) a second light sensitive silver halide emulsion layer containing a compound of Formula II: EQU COUP.sub.2 --(TIME).sub.j --INH II PA1 wherein: PA2 1) COUP.sub.2 is a coupler parent group capable of forming a dye upon reaction with an oxidized developer; PA2 2) TI…
