Abstract

4-Benzoylisothiazoles of the formula 1 ##STR1## wherein x is oxygen or sulfur; PA0 R.sup.1 is hydrogen, alkyl, alkenyl, alkynyl; or is optionally substituted alkoxycarbonyl, aryl, heterocyclyl or hetaryl; PA0 R.sup.2 is hydrogen, halogen, cyano, nitro, alkylsulfonyl or alkoxycarbonyl; or is optionally substituted alkyl, alkenyl, alkynyl, cycloalkyl, cycloalkenyl, aryl, aryloxy, arylthio, alkylamino, arylamino, hetaryl or heterocyclyl; PA0 R.sup.3 is optionally substituted alkyl, cycloalkyl or aryl, or their salts, their manufacture and herbicidal compositions containing them.
