Abstract
Compounds of the general formula (I): EQU H(--CH.sub.2 --CR.sup.1 R.sup.2).sub.m (--CH.sub.2 --CR.sup.1 R.sup.3).sub.n --H (I) where PA1 R.sup.1 is H or methyl, PA1 R.sup.2 is --C(O)--Y--R.sup.4, where R.sup.4 is H, methyl, ethyl or allyl, PA1 R.sup.3 is --C(O)--Y--allyl and PA1 Y is O or NH, or PA1 R.sup.1 is H or C.sub.1 -C.sub.20 -alkyl, PA1 R.sup.2 is H and PA1 R.sup.3 is (--CH.sub.2 --CR.sup.5 .dbd.CR.sup.6 --CH.sub.2).sub.p --H, where R.sup.5 and R.sup.6 independently are each H, PA1 methyl, ethyl or chlorine and p is 1-100, or PA1 R.sup.1 is H, PA1 R.sup.2 is OH or O-allyl and PA1 R.sup.3 is O-allyl, or PA1 R.sup.1 is H, PA1 R.sup.2 is OH or R.sup.3 and PA1 R.sup.3 is (meth)acrylate, --O--C(O)--CH.dbd.CH--COOH or --O--C(O)--CH.sub.2 --C(.dbd.CH.sub.2)--COOH, and m is an integer from 5 to 500,000 and n is an integer from 2 to 100,000, are used as crosslinking agents in particulate emulsion polymers having a glass transition temperature below 0.degree. C. and a mean particle size of from 50 to 1000 nm.
