Abstract

The present invention relates to pigment preparations containing (a) at least one pigment having an average primary particle size of 0.1 to 50 nm selected from the group consisting of carbides, nitrides, borides, and silicides of the elements Ti, Zr, Hf, Si, Ge, and Sn, (b) at least one dispersant having a weight average molecular weight (M.sub.w) greater than 1000, and (c) water. The invention further relates to the use of such pigment preparations in inks for ink-jet printing.
