Abstract

A liquid crystal display device includes a first plate and a second plate; a liquid crystal layer interposed between the first plate and the second plate; a switching element provided between the first plate and the liquid crystal layer; an interlayer insulating layer provided between the first plate and the liquid crystal layer; a pixel electrode provided on the interlayer insulating layer; a counter electrode provided between the second plate and the liquid crystal layer; and a gate signal line and a source signal line both connected to the switching element. The interlayer insulating layer has a first opening and a second opening. The pixel electrode is electrically connected to the switching element through the first opening. The second opening is positioned above the switching element.
