Abstract
A bleach composition and a method for bleaching stains is provided, the composition including a C.sub.7 -C.sub.20 aromatic aldehyde and a transition metal salt. Air is employed as source of oxygen which combines with the aldehyde to form the bleach active species. Peroxides, inorganic persalts and bleach precursors are unnecessary elements for the bleach systems of this invention.
