Abstract

A process for permanently deforming keratin fibers is provided wherein the fiber is treated with 1) a keratin-reducing substance, 2) a physiologically compatible salt of an organic or inorganic acid anion and a divalent cation or Al.sup.3+, and 3) a compound selected from the group consisting of Vitamin C, Vitamin B.sub.5, derivatives thereof and mixtures thereof. The salt 2) and compound 3) can be applied in the form of a wave lotion or an intermediate treatment formulation. Also provided are wave lotions and hair treatment formulations comprising the salt 2) and the compound 3).
