Abstract

The invention relates to spherical transparent polyester particles having a mean particle size <50 .mu.m and a monomodal particle size distribution having a span (d90-d10/d50)<2.5 which can be melted to form a continuous coating at temperatures <200.degree. C., to a process for their preparation and to their use for powder coatings. In a preferred embodiment the particles comprise units of formulae (I) and (2) EQU --CO--X--CO (1) EQU --O--D--O-- (2) where PA0 X is a substituted or unsubstituted C.sub.6 to C.sub.14 -aromatic radical or an alkylene, polymethylene, cycloalkane or dimethylenecycloalkane group or a straight-chain or branched, saturated or unsaturated alkanediyl group and PA0 D is an alkylene, polymethylene, cycloalkane or dimethylenecycloalkane group or a straight-chain or branched, saturated or unsaturated alkanediyl group.
