Abstract

A process for preparing cyclopentadiene homopolymers having a molecular weight in the range from 10,000 to 1,000,000 and less than 35% of 1,2 linkages uses palladium catalysts of the formula EQU [Pd(R.sup.1 --CN).sub.4 ].sup.2+ (A).sub.2 --, where R.sup.1 is an alkyl group and A is a stable anion.
