Abstract

Electrochromic assemblies having a layer structure, characterized in that one layer is an electrically conductive, electrochromic polydioxythiophene and a further layer comprises as ion storage compounds selected from the group consisting of the formulae (I) to (VI) EQU Me.sup.1 O.sub.2 (I), EQU Me.sup.2.sub.2 O.sub.5 (II), EQU Li.sub.x Me.sup.1 O.sub.2 (III), EQU Li.sub.x Me.sup.2.sub.2 O.sub.5 (IV), EQU Li.sub.x Me.sup.1 O.sub.2+x/2 (V), EQU Li.sub.x Me.sup.2.sub.2 O.sub.5+x/2 (VI), where PA1 Me.sup.1 and Me.sup.2 are each a metal of transition group III, IV and V of the Mendeleev Periodic Table, and PA1 x is from 0.001 to 5.
