Abstract
The compound [tris(dimethylamino)phosphonioamino]tris[tris(dimethylamino)phosphoranylid eneamino]phosphonium dichloride can be prepared by contacting hydrogen chloride with tetrakis[tris(dimethylamino)phosphoranylideneamino]phosphonium chloride. The phosphonium dichloride compound can be used in a process wherein it is brought into contact with an OH.sup.- -form ion exchange resin to prepare tetrakis[tris(dimethylamino)phosphoranylideneamino]phosphonium hydroxide. Separate processes for separating or isolating the phosphonium chloride compound or isolating the phosphonium hydroxide compound from feed solutions wherein an extraction step is used are also set forth.
