Abstract

Compounds having kappa opioid agonist activity, compositions containing them and methods of using them as analgesics and anti-pruritic agents are provided. The compounds of formula IV have the structure: ##STR1## wherein PA1 X.sub.9 ; PA1 R.sub.1, R.sub.2, R.sub.3, R.sub.4 ; and PA1 n are as described in the specification.
