Abstract
Polymers of C.sub.2 -C.sub.10 alkenes are prepared in the presence of catalyst systems comprising as active constituents PA1 A) a metallocene complex of the general formula I ##STR1## PA1 where the substituents and indices have the following meanings: PA2 M is titanium, zirconium, hafnium, vanadium, niobium or tantalum, PA2 R.sup.1 to R.sup.4 are hydrogen, C.sub.1 -C.sub.10 -alkyl, 5- to 7-membered cycloalkyl which in turn can bear a C.sub.1 -C.sub.10 -alkyl as substituent, C.sub.6 -C.sub.15 -aryl or arylalkyl, where two adjacent radicals may also together be cyclic groups having from 4 to 15 carbon atoms, Si(R.sup.6).sub.3, ##STR2## PA1 where PA2 R.sup.6 is C.sub.1 -C.sub.10 -alkyl, C.sub.6 -C.sub.15 -aryl or C.sub.3 -C.sub.10 -cycloalkyl, PA2 R.sup.7 and R.sup.8 are hydrogen, C.sub.1 -C.sub.10 -alkyl, C.sub.6 -C.sub.15 -aryl or C.sub.3 -C.sub.10 -cycloalkyl, PA2 R.sup.9 and R.sup.10 are C.sub.1 -C.sub.10 -alkyl, C.sub.6 -C.sub.15 -aryl or C.sub.3 -C.sub.10 -cycloalkyl, PA2 Y is nitrogen, phosphorus, arsenic, antimony, or bismuth, PA2 Z is oxygen, sulfur, selenium or tellurium, PA2 n is an integer in the range from 0 to 10, ##STR3## PA1 B) a compound forming metallocenium ions.
