Abstract
The present invention provides novel 3-substituted-4-arylquinolin-2-one derivatives having the general formula ##STR1## wherein R, R.sup.1, R.sup.2, R.sup.3, R.sup.4, R.sup.5, R.sup.6 and R.sup.7 are as defined herein, or a non-toxic pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof which are modulators of the large conductance calcium-activated K.sup.+ channels and are useful in the treatment of disorders which are responsive to the opening of the potassium channels.
