Abstract

The invention relates to novel arylalkyl compounds of the general formula (I) ##STR1## in which PA1 m represents the numbers 0 to 5, PA1 n represents the numbers 0 to 4, PA1 Q represents O, S, SO or SO.sub.2, PA1 R.sup.1 represents hydrogen or optionally substituted alkyl, PA1 R.sup.2 represents hydrogen or optionally substituted alkyl, PA1 X represents hydroxyl, mercapto, amino, hydroxyamino, nitro, formyl, carboxyl, cyano, carbamoyl, thiocarbamoyl, halogen, or represents an in each case optionally cyano-, halogen- or alkoxy-substituted radical from the series alkyl, alkoxy, alkylthio, alkylsulphinyl, alkylsulphonyl, alkylamino, dialkylamino, alkylcarbonyl or alkoxycarbonyl, PA1 Y represents nitro, carboxyl, cyano, carbamoyl, thiocarbamoyl, halogen, or represents an in each case optionally cyano-, halogen- or alkoxy-substituted radical from the series alkyl, alkoxy, alkylthio, alkylsulphinyl or alkylsulphonyl, and PA1 Z represents one of the groupings below ##STR2## in which PA1 R.sup.3, R.sup.4, R.sup.5, R.sup.6 and R.sup.7 are each as defined in the description, to processes for their preparation, to novel intermediates and to the use of the arylalkyl compounds as herbicides.
