Abstract
Compounds of formula (I) wherein Me is Pd(II) or Pt(II); R is H or C.sub.1 -C.sub.18 alkyl, or is C.sub.3 -C.sub.8 cycloalkyl, phenyl, pyridyl or phenyl-C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkylene, each of which is unsubstituted or substituted by C.sub.1 -C.sub.18 alkyl, C.sub.1 -C.sub.18 alkoxy, R.sub.3 --O--C(O)--, halogen, --CN or by --NO.sub.2 ; R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are each independently of the other H, C.sub.1 -C.sub.12 alkyl or C.sub.1 -C.sub.12 alkoxy or R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 together are --OCH.sub.2 O--, --OCH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 O--, or --CH.dbd.CH--CH.dbd.CH--, and R.sub.3 is C.sub.1 -C.sub.18 alkyl, C.sub.3 -C.sub.18 cycloalkyl, phenyl, benzyl, C.sub.1 -C.sub.12 alkylphenyl or C.sub.1 -C.sub.12 alkylbenzyl. Compounds of formula (I) are valuable luminophores and/or intermediates for the preparation of palladium (II) or platinum (II) benzoporphyrins, which are likewise luminophores. ##STR1##
