Abstract

A substantially light-insensitive black and white monosheet thermographic recording material comprising a support and a thermosensitive element containing a substantially light-insensitive organic silver salt, a 1,2-dihydroxyphenyl-compound in thermal working relationship therewith and a binder, wherein the 1,2-dihydroxyphenyl-compound is represented by formula (I): ##STR1## where n is 0 or 1; R is --(C.dbd.O)R.sup.1, --(C.dbd.O)NR.sup.1 R.sup.2, --CN, --SO.sub.3 R.sup.2, --SO.sub.2 R.sup.2, --SOR.sup.2, --SO.sub.2 NR.sup.2 R.sup.3 or --PO.sub.3 R.sup.2 R.sup.3 ; R.sup.1 is H or an alkyl group with 12 or less carbon atoms; and R.sup.2 and R.sup.3 are independently H or an alkyl or an aryl group; and R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 together can provide the atoms to close a carbocyclic or heterocyclic ring; and R.sup.2 and R.sup.3 together can represent the atoms to close a carbocyclic or heterocyclic ring; and a recording process therefor.
