Abstract

Substituted benzothiepine 1,1-dioxide derivatives of formula I: ##STR1## in which R.sup.1, R.sup.2, R.sup.3, R.sup.4, R.sup.5 and Z have the meanings indicated, and their physiologically tolerable salts and physiologically functional derivatives and a process for their preparation are described. The compounds are suitable, for example, as hypolipidemics.
