Abstract

A cast polyurethane elastomer possessing a resilience of at least about 50 percent and a clarity index of at least 80 percent is obtained by subjecting to polyurethane elastomer-forming conditions a polyurethane elastomer-forming reaction mixture comprising: PA1 a) an isocyanate selected from the group consisting of diphenyl methane diisocyanate, isocyanate obtained from the reaction of polyether diol with MDI and mixtures thereof wherein at least a major proportion by weight of the diphenyl methane diisocyanate is the 4,4'-diphenyl methane diisocyanate isomer; PA1 b) at least one polyether diol; and, PA1 c) at least one diol chain extender of the general formula: EQU HO--(CH.sub.2).sub.x --OH wherein x is an integer from 5 to about 16.
