Abstract
Cyanoacetic esters of the general formula: ##STR1## in which R is C.sub.1-10 -alkyl, C.sub.3-10 -alkenyl or aryl-C.sub.1-4 alkyl, are prepared by the reaction of alkali metal cyanoacetates with the corresponding halides R--X, in which X is chlorine, bromine or iodine, in an aqueous/organic two-phase system in the presence of a phase-transfer catalyst.
