Abstract
The invention provides a solid TCMTB formulation for controlling the growth of at least one microorganism. The use of a solid TCMTB formulation, as compared to a liquid, minimizes user contact and is more readily packaged. A solid TCMTB formulation of the invention contains TCMTB adsorbed onto a water-soluble, salt carrier matrix, with the TCMTB present in an amount effective to control the growth of at least one microorganism, preferably in an aqueous system. Other microbicides and additives may also be incorporated into a solid TCMTB formulation of the invention. In a preferred embodiment, the formulation contains both TCMTB and one or more other microbicides (e.g., methylene bisthiocyanate (MTC)) and a water-soluble, salt carrier matrix. The TCMTB is adsorbed onto the water-soluble salt carrier matrix. The TCMTB and other microbicide are present in a combined antimicrobial amount effective for the control of at least one microorganism. A solid TCMTB formulation may be used in a wide variety of biocide applications. Accordingly, the invention also relates to a method for controlling the growth of at least one microorganism in a liquid, preferably aqueous, system. In particular, t…
