Novel nitrophenyl-sulphonyl-imidazoles of the formula ##STR1## in which PA1 X, R.sup.1, R.sup.2 and R.sup.3 have the meanings stated in the description, a process for the preparation of novel substances and their use for controlling vegetable and animal pests.
