Abstract

The invention relates to substituted 1,4-benzothiazepine-1,1-dioxide derivatives and their acid addition salts. 1,4-Benzothiazepine-1,1-dioxide derivatives of formula 1, ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1, R.sup.2, R.sup.3, and Z have the meanings indicated in the specification, physiologically tolerable salts, and physiologically functional derivatives thereof, and also processes for their preparation, are described. The compounds are suitable, for example, as hypolipidemics.
