Abstract
The present invention provides a process for producing N-acyl-protected amino acids with the general formula I ##STR1## by amidocarbonylation whereby carbon monoxide, an amide/nitrile and an aldehyde, are reacted in the presence of a metal catalysts such as rhodium, iridium or ruthenium catalysts.
