Abstract
Space covariance matrices are first defined for a k.sup.th link from the base station to a wireless station and for a sum of further radio stations, that is to say, in the latter case, the interference for the k.sup.th link. In a second step, a beam forming vector w.sup.(k) is calculated for the link such that the signal-to-noise ratio in the receiver is maximized. A general intrinsic value problem is thereby solved without iterations. Transmission signals are then weighted with the beam forming vector for the link, and are supplied to the antenna elements for transmission. The method is suitable for TDMA/CDMA and CDMA transmission methods using smart antennas.
