Abstract

The invention relates to an alkali-free aluminoborosilicate glass which has the following composition in % by weight, based on oxide: SiO.sub.2 60.5-69, B.sub.2 O.sub.3 0.5-4.5, Al.sub.2 O.sub.3 15-24, MgO 3-10, CaO 0-10, SrO 0.5-8, BaO 0.5-5.5, with MgO+CaO+SrO+BaO 8-19, SnO.sub.2 0.1-2, ZrO.sub.2 0-2, TiO.sub.2 0-2, CeO.sub.2 0-1, ZnO 0-<1, and which is highly suitable for use as substrate glass both in display technology and thin-film photovoltaics.
