Abstract

A method of boosting the detergency of a detergent, which entails admixing an amine with an average pK.sub.A of from 1 to 14 to the detergent, wherein the amine is a polymer containing repeating units corresponding to the formula: EQU --[CH.sub.2 --CH(NH.sub.2)]-- produced by at least partial hydrolysis of oligo/polyvinylformamides and co-polymers of vinylformamide wherein 5 to 100% of the nitrogen atoms are present in primary or secondary amino groups.
