Abstract
Picornaviral 3C protease inhibitors of formula I, obtainable by chemical synthesis, that inhibit or block the biological activity of the picornaviral 3C protease are described. ##STR1## These compounds, as well as pharmaceutical compositions that contain these compounds, are suitable for treating patients or hosts infected with one or more picornaviruses.
