Abstract

Transfer ribonucleic acid (tRNA) synthetase inhibitors, salts, and pharmaceutically acceptable compositions thereof of the general formula: ##STR1## wherein Ar is aryl and heteroaryl; L is --C(O)N(Q)CH.sub.2 --, or --CR.sup.10 R.sup.11 OCR.sup.12 R.sup.13 --; Q is hydrido, --(CH.sub.2).sub.m CO.sub.2 H and --(CH.sub.2).sub.m CO.sub.2 CH.sub.3, m is 1, 2, 3, and 4; R.sup.1, R.sup.2, R.sup.9, R.sup.10, R.sup.11, R.sup.12 and R.sup.13 are hydrido or lower alkyl; wherein Het is a heterocyclic moiety, the inhibitors are suitable for use as antimicrobial agents.
