The ink jet recording sheet has a gloss like photographic papers and has a high transparency, and can be used as OHP films. In this ink jet recording sheet, an ink receiving layer containing a pseudo-boehmite alumina hydrate and a binder is provided on a support, the ratio of a pore volume of the pores having a radius of 13 nm or more and less than 50 nm to a pore volume of the pores having a radius of 3 nm or more and less than 13 nm is 0.3-0.9 or the pore volume of the pores having a radius of 13 nm or more and less than 50 nm is 0.1-0.5 ml/g. Furthermore, the ink receiving layer has a surface pH of 4.0-5.4.
