Abstract
A method for forming micronized antiperspirant salts is disclosed wherein the method comprises the steps of: (1) forming an aqueous salt solution of a parent salt wherein the solution has a glycol content of less than 5 weight %; (2) pouring the salt solution onto a bounded flat surface; (3) evaporating the solvent from the salt solution so as to form a glass; (4) breaking up the glass using one or more steps to form particles having an average size in the range of 0.5-2.00 cm2; (5) mixing the particles from step (4) with a non-aqueous liquid vehicle in which the salt is not appreciably soluble and subjecting the mixture to an intermediate grinding process to form a suspension with particles having an average size of less than 200 microns; and (6) grinding the mixture from step (5) at a temperature in the range of 20-70 degrees C. without added water or external heating being required so that the particles in the suspension have an average particle size of less than or equal to 20 microns.
