Abstract

An ink jet recording element including a support having thereon, in the order recited, a base layer including a hydrophilic material and a non-porous, ink-receptive top layer including a binder, mordant and polymeric particles, the particles having a particle size of less than about 0.5 &mgr;m and being present in an amount of from about 20 to about 50% by weight of the ink-receptive top layer.
