Abstract

The present invention provides novel amidine compounds and novel pesticides containing these amidine compounds as active ingredients. The amidine compounds are expressed by formula I: wherein X and Y are the same or different and are independently halogen, nitro, cyano, or C1-C6 alkyl; Z is C1-C6 haloalkyl or C1-C6 haloalkoxy; R1 is hydrogen, halogen, C1-C6 alkyl, C1-C6 haloalkyl, C1-C6 alkoxy, C1-C6 haloalkoxy, or a group of formula: S(O)n—R5 (wherein R5 is C1-C6 alkyl or C1-C6 haloalkyl; and n is 0, 1, or 2); R2 and R3 are the same or different and are independently halogen or C1-C6 haloalkyl; and R4 is a group of formula: NR6R7 or N═CR8R9 (wherein R6 is hydrogen, C1-C6 alkyl, (C1-C6 alkoxy)-carbonyl, (C1-C6 alkoxy) C1-C6 alkyl, or C2-C6 acyl; R7 is hydrogen, C1-C6 alkyl, (C1-C6 alkoxy)carbonyl, or C2-C6 acyl; R8 is C1-C6 alkyl or hydrogen; and R9 is C1-C6 alkoxy, C1-C6 alkyl, or di(C1-C6 alkyl)amino).
