Abstract

A non-aqueous secondary battery wherein internal short circuits caused by some kinds of manufacturing processes can be prevented by avoiding the falling of active material particles from end faces of sheet electrodes, and the battery capacity of an electrode plate laminate which can be stored in a battery can of the same size as those of the conventional laminates can be increased without increasing the thickness of the active material layer. In order to realize the features mentioned above, at least one of end face of each of positive electrode active material layers (1b) and negative electrode active material layers (2b) is coated with an aggregation layer of insulating material particles (3F) wherein insulating material particles are bonded with binders. The positive electrode active material layer (1b) is formed in such a size that it may not overhang the negative electrode active material layer (2b) which is paired with the positive electrode active material layer (1b) for a cell layer. A separator is constituted of an aggregation layer of insulating material particles (3B) and is secured to either a positive electrode (1) or a negative electrode (2) or to both of them. The se…
