Abstract

Disclosed is a printing process which comprises (1) incorporating into an acoustic ink jet printing apparatus an ink composition comprising (a) an ink vehicle which comprises a bis(carbamate) of the formula wherein R1 is an alkylene group and R2 and R3 each, independently of the other, are alkyl groups or alkylene oxide or polyalkylene oxide groups of the formula —(CnH2nO)yH, wherein n is an integer of 2 or 3 and y is an integer representing the number of repeat alkylene oxide units, (b) a colorant, (c) an optional conductivity enhancing agent, (d) an optional antioxidant, (e) an optional UV absorber, (f) an optional clarifier, (g) an optional tackifier, (h) an optional adhesive, and (i) an optional plasticizer, (2) melting the ink, and (3) causing droplets of the melted ink to be ejected by acoustic beams in an imagewise pattern onto a recording sheet.
