Abstract

A process for the recovery of copper from an aqueous phase containing nitrate ions, in which the aqueous phase is contacted with a solution of an oxime extractant in a water-immiscible organic solvent, which comprises using at least one of the following process variants:I) reducing the acidity of the aqueous phase prior to contact with the organic solution; andII) reducing the electromotive force in the aqueous phase prior to contact with the organic solution.
