Abstract

(±)-&agr;-(Difluoromethyl)-ornithine is separate into its isomers using (−)-O,O′-di-p-toluoyl-L-tartaric acid. (−)-&agr;-(Difluoromethyl)-ornithine monohydrochloride monohydrate and in particular the (−)-isomer are inhibitors of ornithine decarboxylase and thereby have numerous pharmacological actions.
